Elon News Network highlighted the work SAFE, the United Way and other organizations were doing to eliminate student lunch debt across Alamance County . SAFE Executive Director Tiffanie Jackson told ENN, " “They (students) hear their guardians and mom and dad talking about these issues in the house, and they take that in, especially younger kids. Rather than go through the line, they may feel like, ‘Maybe I shouldn't do that, because mom and dad are stressed out.’”

In Alamance County, a school lunch costs $3.10 a day—an expense that can create a real burden for many families already struggling financially. Through our  Cleared to Learn campaign , SAFE is partnering with  United Way of Alamance County  and  All for Lunch  to eliminate existing student lunch debt across ABSS and prevent it from growing in the future.  Fox8 reported on the launch of this campaign  and why it's so important to so many students and families.

Thank you to The Hawbridge School and Blessed Sacrament School for participating in this year's Super Bowl of Cereal Challenge. Together, the schools collected 1,095 boxes of  cereal to help feed Alamance County families.

Impact Alamance announced plans gift an industrial freezer, made possible through Impact Alamance’s Progress and Enhancement grant. The freezer upgrade will expand SAFE's food storage capacity, helping to reduce off-site storage costs and allowing the organization to serve more families in need. SAFE Inc. will have a wish come true, thanks to the KFC Foundation, which has awarded a $10,000 grant to fund interior modifications to its Graham food pantry, creating private, soundproof consultation rooms to enhance service delivery and protect client dignity.

The Mebane Woman's Club volunteered at SAFE at Hwy 87 on Saturday, Sept. 20. They did a great job serving our neighbors at food distribution and assembling sourdough bread starter kits.

My favorite parts of volunteering are getting to know our neighbors and seeing the smiles on their faces. I also enjoy knowing that I am helping to better my community by making sure everyone has the opportunity to have a meal on their table.

I’m excited to join SAFE as a Master of Social Work intern from UNC Chapel Hill. Before graduate school, I worked in program coordination and community education with nonprofit organizations in the Triangle area.

Now, we’re introducing the Swiftie Sourdough Challenge!  Swifties know Taylor’s favorite number is 13 — so, in honor of Taylor Swift and our shared love of sourdough bread, we have set the goal of having 13 loaves donated each day between now and Oct. 3, when her new album The Life of a Showgirl drops.

I started volunteering at SAFE at The Bridge on March 21, 2024. I love taking the opportunity to serve the Lord, getting to know our neighbors, and working with a great team of volunteers.

I am excited to join SAFE as a social work practicum student over the coming months. I look forward to connecting with staff, volunteers and neighbors and contributing to the support services that SAFE provides in whatever capacity is most helpful.
