Community Bread Program

Bread is about more than flour and water. Throughout history, the sharing of bread has symbolized life, community and hope for a better future. Can you commit to providing two loaves of bread a week for your neighbors?

How It Works:

  • SAFE will provide sourdough starter to anyone interested in participating in the Community Bread Program. Sourdough starter can be picked up at our NC 87 location Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and at Saxy a Go Go (1735 Saxapahaw Bethlehem Church Road, Graham) Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • You provide the flour, water and other ingredients needed to make your favorite sourdough bread recipe.

  • Wrap the bread and bring it back to our NC 87 location, where it will be distributed as part of our Choice Food Pantry.
