In 2024, SAFE helped more than 3,500 families in Burlington, Graham and across Alamance County and the surrounding communities.
At SAFE, we're here to listen, walk with you, and help you find the support you need to build a better future. We start with food but also connect you to the resources you need to move towards stability and hope.
Be a Voice for SAFE
Hunger in our state is at a 15-year high. In Alamance County, families are making impossible choices—between food and rent, between medicine and groceries. Week after week, more neighbors are turning to SAFE not just for food, but for hope. And still, we do everything we can to meet them with dignity, compassion, and care.
Right now, we’re at a crossroads. Recent federal funding cuts have eliminated two key programs that helped food banks and schools purchase fresh, nutritious food directly from North Carolina farmers. This $11.4 million loss for 2025 and 2026 strikes at the heart of our mission—just when our community needs us most.
This funding loss means less food on pantry shelves, fewer fresh options for struggling families, and devastating setbacks for small farms working tirelessly to feed our communities. It puts lives, livelihoods, and futures at risk.
Now is the time for us to rise as a united voice.
SAFE is joining food assistance organizations across North Carolina to call on our elected officials: Restore this funding. Protect the programs that nourish our communities and support our farmers. Invest in a food system that lifts up everyone—especially the most vulnerable. We’re asking you to join us.
Please consider sending a letter to the North Carolina state representatives who serve Alamance County. Let your voice be heard in Raleigh and in Washington. Urge our leaders to stand up for what’s right—for access to healthy food, for a fair chance at stability, and for the dignity every human being deserves.

Schedule a Food Pantry Appointment

To help us better meet the needs of our clients, SAFE sees individuals and families by appointment only. These appointments allow us to better understand all of the resources your family may need access to and help make those connections on your behalf. Following this consultation, you will have the ability to shop our Choice Food Pantry.
We see clients at our Hwy 87 location on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and the first and third Saturdays of each month. Unfortunately, our Hwy 87 location is at capacity and we are not able to take on new clients there at this time. If you are interested in receiving services from this location, let us know and we can put you on our waiting list. Our Hwy 87 location will be closed July 3 and July 5.
Appointments are available at Safe at the Bridge (615 W. Harden St., Graham) every Thursday from 4 to 6 pm. Our Safe at the Bridge location will be closed June 19.
If you have an immediate food need and cannot wait for an appointment, the United Way of Alamance County provides a list of all area food pantries here.
