Food Pantries
SAFE operates three choice food pantries in Alamance County. A choice food pantry is set up to resemble a small grocery store and allows individuals and families to shop for the food they want, empowering families to choose items based on their needs and preferences.
To help us better meet the needs of families, SAFE sees individuals and families at all three food pantries by appointment only.
Our food pantries serve families at the following times:
-
SAFE on NC 87 — Tuesday and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon and the first and third Saturdays of each month from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
-
SAFE at Snow Camp — The first and third Saturdays of each month from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
-
SAFE at The Bridge — Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Everyone deserves to eat. At SAFE we believe that food is a right and that every person that comes to us seeking food assistance gets the nourishment they need. While we do our best to schedule people for their preferred day of the week and location, some times and sites have greater demand than others. If it will be more than 2 weeks before we are able to schedule you at your requested day and site, we will offer you an appointment at a different location. If an appointment is not available at a time or location that is convenient for you, we still offer the food assistance you need with ready made emergency food boxes. Please come to any one of our pantries during normal distribution times and request an emergency food box if you cannot get an appointment that is convenient.

Process and Guidelines
To make the process run more smoothly, here are the guidelines for our food pantries.
-
Please neighbors may only visit a SAFE food pantry once every two weeks. For example, if you visit the Safe at The Bridge location on Thursday, August 17th you cannot visit Safe at The Bridge or Safe at Highway 87 until two weeks later on Thursday, August 31 or after. You will be able to set up your next appointment while at Safe.
-
Please bring the following for each visit:
1. Your Second Harvest card
2. The "Safe Next Visit" card
-
Review our Services Agreement before coming for your first visit. SAFE may deny future services to clients who do not abide by the agreement.
Due to increased demand and a growing waitlist, SAFE is implementing a new attendance policy. Clients who miss three appointments without providing at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule will be removed from our client list and added to our waitlist.
