Community Refrigerators

Community refrigerators are about more than free food. It's neighbor helping neighbor. It's sharing our abundance and receiving what we need. It's about building a more resilient community.

Refrigerator Locations:

SAFE — 5950 Hwy 87 S., Graham, 27253
Down Home North Carolina — 1246 Plaza Drive A, Burlington, 27215 (coming soon!)
Providence Montessori School — 2307 Eric Lane, Burlington, 27215 (coming soon!)

We are currently looking for locations for three additional refrigerators. If you are interested in housing a community refrigerator, contact Tiffanie Jackson at executivedirector@safealamance.org.

General Guidelines for Donors:

Please only donate vegetables.
Ensure food is in good condition. Avoid donating items that are rotting, spoiled, moldy, or damaged.
Wash produce before donating to help remove potential contaminants.
If possible, label your produce so people know what it is.
Please put new donations toward the back of the shelves so that food gets eaten in the order it is donated.
Make sure donated items are placed inside the fridge and not left on the ground outside. Food
items on the ground are vulnerable to pests, unsafe temperatures, and germs.

General Guidelines for Recipients:

Anyone may take food from the refrigerator, no questions asked.
Only take the food your family will consume. Please leave food for others.

While we clean the refrigerators on a regular basis, if you notice a refrigerator needs cleaned, please contact us at info@safealamance.org or 336-525-2120.
